Holiday Season Comfort Food

Hey guys!

I thought I’d post another What I Eat in a Day. This was one of my few normal days of eating over the holiday season.

I started my day with 2 slices of cinnamon raison toast with a bit of margarine. I also had one poached egg with pepper, and half a banana. As usual, I had a cup of coffee with raw cane sugar and milk, and copious amounts of water.

In case anyone was wondering… I use this mug the entire month of December. It’s a tradition. My life is thrilling.

For lunch I had some organic broccoli soup that I promise tastes better than it looks. There’s no dairy in it so it’s basically just broccoli purée with some seasoning but it’s so light and hearty at the same time. I also had some rosemary triscuits with marble cheese (can you tell I was craving nachos?).

To drink, I had Blue Menu sparkling lime water. This is my favourite sparkling water and has been so helpful in replacing pop in my diet. Sometimes I just need bubbles.

For snack, I had a mug of green tea with honey. I also had a leftover raison butter tart Christmas square courtesy of chef mom.

 

For dinner, I had striped butternut squash ravioli with cherry tomato sauce, roasted broccoli, and goat cheese. *Not pictured: the half bottle of Sriracha I added before consumption…

Last but definitely not least, I had this glorious bowl of peanut butter ice cream for dessert, shared with my boyfriend of course 😉

And I did not regret it one bit. Nor should you.

I don’t mind being a broken record when I say, food is neither inherently bad or good. Eating habits can be poor or positive, but villainizing food is not the answer. All we can do is take ownership of our choices and embrace them.

On this day, I embraced the shit out of this ice cream.
